Nevada’s window tint law is more permissive than most surrounding states. Here’s how the 2026 rules work and how Polar Tint Spring Valley Ranch helps you choose the right film.
The law (NRS 484D.440)
| Window | Minimum VLT | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windshield | n/a | AS-1 strip only across the top |
| Front side windows | 35% | Both driver and passenger |
| Rear side windows | Any darkness | 5% limo dark is legal |
| Rear window | Any darkness | 5% limo dark is legal |
Common Polar Tint Spring Valley Ranch pairings
- 35% front + 20% rear sides + 5% back: most-requested pairing on sedans
- 35% front + 5% all rear glass: privacy maximum on SUVs and trucks
- 50% VLT all sides + 35% on rear: maximum heat rejection without visible darkness on the front
Going below 35% on the front: what to know
Anything below 35% VLT on the front side windows is outside the Nevada legal limit, and the citation goes to the vehicle owner — not the installer. We install what you request; we’ll just make sure you understand where the legal line is first. If you want the darkest legal look, 35% front is the limit, and we can also show you high-IR ceramic options that keep the front legal while still cutting heat. If you have a medical exemption, bring the paperwork (see below) and we can go darker.
Medical exemptions
Nevada allows medical exemption stickers for darker tint with a physician statement. The exemption attaches to the vehicle (not the driver). Polar Tint will install below 35% with a verified exemption.
Enforcement
Spring Valley Ranch PD and Nevada Highway Patrol do enforce tint law, especially on traffic stops. A modest moving-violation fine applies and the citation requires removal before re-inspection. Knowing the limits up front lets you decide what’s right for your vehicle.
