Quick answer — what tint should go on a Tesla in Las Vegas?
Non-metallic Nano Ceramic. Polar Tint Spring Valley Ranch installs it in three tiers: Premium Ceramic (up to 46% IR rejection), Ceramic Plus (up to 80%) and Ceramic Ultimate Plus (up to 98%). All three block 99% of UV and none of them interfere with cell signal, GPS or keyless entry.
Nevada requires at least 35% light transmission on the front side windows, measured through the film and glass together. The rear side windows and back glass can go darker when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides. Why does a Tesla need non-metallic window tint?
A Tesla leans on radio signals all day: cellular connectivity, GPS navigation and keyless entry, including phone-as-key access. Metallized window film rejects heat with a reflective metal layer, and that same layer blocks radio frequency. That is why Polar Tint Spring Valley Ranch does not install metallized film on any vehicle, and does not install dyed film either.
Nano Ceramic works differently. It uses non-conductive ceramic nanoparticles that reject infrared heat without blocking radio frequency. All three Polar Tint tiers are fully non-metallic, so none of them interfere with:
- Cellular connectivity and GPS navigation
- Keyless entry, including phone-as-key
- Garage remotes and toll transponders
- Tire-pressure sensors
It is the same rule the shop applies to every EV that comes through the bay: Nano Ceramic only.
Which Tesla windows can be tinted, model by model?
Every current Tesla has side windows and rear glass that take the tier you choose in a Nevada-legal shade. What changes from model to model is the big glass: panoramic windshields, glass roofs and oversized rear windows.

Many EVs ship with factory-treated glass, so the film has to work with the OEM glass rather than against it. How much heat does ceramic tint block on a Tesla?
That depends on the tier. All three are non-metallic Nano Ceramic with 99% UV rejection and the same Lifetime Polar Tint Promise; what changes is how much infrared heat each one rejects. Darkness (VLT) is chosen separately.

One honest footnote: “up to 98% IR rejection” describes the infrared band, which is roughly 53% of the sun's energy. It is not 98% of all heat. The all-in number is TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected), which is always lower than the IR figure, and you can ask for the TSER spec on your chosen tier and shade at the free quote.
Will window tint improve my Tesla's range?
We don't promise a range number. Rejecting infrared at the glass keeps the cabin, seats and steering wheel cooler after the car has been parked in the sun, so the climate system has less heat to pull out when you get back in. How much of that turns into range depends on the model, the weather, how long the car sits and how you drive.
What you can count on is on the spec sheet: up to 98% IR rejection on the top tier and 99% UV blocked on every tier, which protects both you and the interior.
How dark can you legally tint a Tesla in Nevada?
Nevada's rules come from NRS 484D.440, and they apply to a Tesla the same way they apply to any other car:
- Front side windows: non-reflective, with at least 35% light transmission measured through the film and glass together.
- Rear side windows and back glass: any darkness, as long as the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides that give the driver a view at least 200 feet to the rear.
- Windshield: only a strip across the top, with its bottom edge at least 29 inches above the driver's seat, and never red or amber. That includes the Model X panoramic windshield.

Do you tint other EVs, like Rivian and Lucid?

Should I add paint protection film or ceramic coating?
Tint protects the cabin; the paint needs its own plan. Paint protection film and ceramic coating are both common add-ons when a new EV is delivered:
- Paint protection film is self-healing urethane, with coverage from a Track Package up to Full Vehicle, for the rock chips and sand of I-15 and 215 driving.
- Ceramic coating is 3M ceramic coating in a multi-year tier and a lifetime tier, for hydrophobic gloss that is easier to keep clean through valley dust.

- Pick your tier and shade. An installer walks the car with you, compares the three tiers using physical samples and explains Nevada's limits. You get a written quote with the film tier, coverage, install date and warranty terms.
- Install in the shop. All automotive tint is done in-shop in a dust-controlled bay. Shop time depends on the glass count, the roof glass and how curved the cuts are, and your installer confirms timing with the written quote.
